Snowman Cocoon and hat

Here is a great cocoon for christmas pictures please feel free to share my pattern! you can sell ur item made but all i ask is not to sell my pattern as ur own and dont post my pictures as ur own as well! happy crocheting! Enjoy

what you will need:

  • 10 black buttons any size
  • tapestry needle
  • black yarn
  • red yarn
  • white yarn
  • orange yarn
  • scissors
  • stuffing
  • sewing thread
  • h hook

 

Snowman Hat Pattern: use size H hook

 

2016-11-13-1

Size: 0-3 Months

using h hook

Magic ring, chain 2, DC 10 in magic ring, join to first DC, ch 2
Round 2: 2 DC in each around, join, ch 2 (20 DC)
Round 3: 2 DC in first stitch, DC in next, around, join, ch 2. (30 DC)
Round 4: 2 DC in first stitch, DC in next four, join, ch 1 (36 DC)
Rounds 5-8: DC in each stitch around (36 DC)
optional: loosely slip stitch around the bottom to create a finished edge. fasten off sew in ends.

 

Snowman Top Hat:

use size H hook for small hats and size I or J hook for larger hats
Magic ring, SC 10, join, ch 1
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, ch 1 (20 SC)
Round 3: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next, around, join, ch 1 (30 SC)
Round 4: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next 2 stitches, around, join, ch 1 (36 SC)
Round 5: In back loops only, SC around, join, ch 1 (36 SC)
Round 6: Now working in both loops, SC in next 8, SC decrease, repeat 2 times, SC in next 5 stitches, SC decrease, join, ch 1 (32 SC)
Round 7: SC around, join, ch 1 (32 SC)
Round 8: SC in next 7, SC decrease, repeat 2 times SC in last 4 stitches, join, ch 1. (28 SC)
Round 9: SC around, join, ch 1 (28 SC)
Rounds 10&11: SC around, join, ch 1 (28 SC)
Change color for round 11 if you want to make a stripe in your hat
Round 12: SC in next 6, SC decrease, repeat 3 times, SC in last 4 stitches, join, ch 1 (25 SC)
Round 13: SC around, join, ch 1 (25 SC)
Round 14: In front loops only, SC around, join, ch 1 (25 SC)
Round 15: Now working in both loops, 2 SC in each around, join, fasten off and weave in ends (50 SC)
Stuff with poly-fil and sew onto top of beanie. Using your tapestry needle and with black yarn, sew onto the hat.

Carrot Nose:
Chain 6, Sl St in second chain from hook, SC, HDC, DC, DC, continue to slip stitch around the back and bottom of the triangle, when you get to the tip, chain 2, slip stitch in second chain from hook and slip stitch to your first SC. Add eyes to the hat and use 5 buttons for the mouth and add nose as well onto the hat!

 

Newborn Cocoon Pattern:

2016-11-13

Magic Ring, chain 2 and make 11 DC in ring, join, chain 2
Round 2: 2 DC in each stitch around, join, chain 2 (22 DC)
Round 3: 2 DC in first stitch, DC in next, repeat around, join, chain 2 (33 DC)
Round 4: 2 DC in first stitch, DC in next 2, repeat around, join, chain 2 (44 DC)
Round 5: 2 DC in first stitch, DC in next 3, repeat around, join, chain 2 (55 DC)
Rounds 6-21: DC in each stitch around, join, chain 2 (55 DC)
fasten off weave in ends.
Now with different color yarn: (I used red)
Chain 30, attach to cocoon and SC around edge, when you get back to where you started, do not join, chain 30 (again), turn
Rows 2-5: SC in each stitch (down the chain 30, around the rim, and down the other chain 30), turn
fasten off and weave in ends. Scarf made.

Now you can tie the scarf in a little knot or bow!

Add three 1″ black buttons to the front of your cocoon.
